Can contractors block sidewalks during construction projects?
Yes, contractors can obtain a permit to do work on sidewalks, driveways, and in the street right-away. Permits are issued by the Engineering Office and more information can be found below. Contractors are encouraged to provide pedestrian detours, assist people who may need it, and leave their work zones in a safe condition during non-working hours. For information about particular projects, please contact the Engineering Division at (607) 274-6530.Street, Sidewalk Permit information
