I'm concerned about the parking downtown, specifically the commons/central downtown. I moved to Ithaca about 16 years ago and ever since moving here, there's been a problem with lack of parking spaces downtown. Now, with all the new apartments/hotels being built right around the commons with no infrastructure plan in place to support the additional traffic and cars the tenants will be bringing to the area. I rarely go to the Commons due to the difficulty in parking, but when I do go, I find the foot traffic extremely low, and I believe this is due to the lack of parking. I know of one store that will be moving from the commons in the near future due to the lack of people shopping the commons. I noticed that the new Green Street parking garage is being planned - and that's good, but, 1000 spaces of parking, with some that will be probably reserved for the attached office space, will not be enough. More parking needs to be available or downtown will be a nightmare to travel and park.

I think a gradual ban on plastic bags in Ithaca would be great. Boston is just starting this process (https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/11/14/boston-plastic-bag-ban-begins-next-month-here-what-you-need-know/GhHOtKBB2D0ufSPfFuxtJI/story.html?s_campaign=bostonglobe%3Asocialflow%3Afacebook) and I think this would be widely accepted by Ithaca and has environmental impact by helping to lower demand for single use plastic bags, but also would decrease litter assiciated with plastic bags.

This is a two-way stop at a three-way intersection, and people never understand that the third car (turning onto Stewart from Willard) doesn't have to stop. Either people slow down traffic by stopping where they don't need to in confusion, or people pull out from the other two points of the intersection without realizing that the cars from Willard don't stop, causing near-accidents. I live right by this intersection and there are constantly car horns going off because people can't figure this out- I feel like a real accident could happen here.

Buses and trucks for musicians performing at the State Theater idle for hours at a time. This adds fumes to the street area, wastes gas, and is noisy. Is there any incentive to help the State Theater provide alternative situations for the musicians? Could electricity be made accessible to the trucks and buses so they don't have to run generators? The community of Ithaca, in many ways, is dedicated to sustainability, and having an opportunity for our visiting performers to tap into a sustainable way of using energy for their buses and trucks is important.

How can we encourage Curbside Compost pickup to return? The service ended in 2016 but was successful. It increases the likelihood that community members will recycle their food scraps, thus keeping food out of landfills. Making the service economically viable is important. Is there a way to support it using community taxes? It is a critically important step to protecting our planet. Waste food can be turned back into soil, rather than creating harmful greenhouse gases in a landfill.
