As we look ahead to winter weather the city would like to remind residents and those parking on downtown streets to stay safe and be aware of the potential for enactment of Odd/ Even parking.
To facilitate clearing of snow to the curbline or pavement edge the City of Ithaca has adopted an Odd/Even parking schedule. Until the past few years, the Odd/Even parking rules were in effect continuously from November 1st to April 1st whether there was snow or not. Recently, the City began implementing the Odd/Even rules only when needed for snow removal.
The City of Ithaca utilizes TC SIREN, or Tompkins County Safety & Incident Real-Time Emergency Notifications, as our official emergency notification system to communicate with the community during emergencies, and during enactment of Odd/ Even parking. TC SIREN is a free service that allows individuals to receive alerts sent from local authorities to stay informed on potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic, and other emergencies. Additionally, an alert will be posted on the city's website and social media accounts to notify of the enactment of Odd/ Even Parking.
