Spencer Road Paving (Phase 2)

Inlet Island Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Replacement
Project Location: Parking lot adjacent to 323 Taughannock Blvd
Project Description: Completely replace existing pump station. Work includes: bypass pumping to isolate the existing station; removal of existing pumps and control equipment, replacement of wet well top slab, installation of new valve vault, pumps, piping, valves, control panel, and wiring; startup and testing; site restoration.
Project Start Date & Time: 8:00am, Tuesday, September 7th
Scheduled Completion Date: Friday, October 8th
Interruptions to Water Service: None expected
Local Impacts: A portion of the parking lot adjacent to 323 Taughannock Blvd will be completely closed until the project is complete (see attached map). Approximately 13 parking spaces will be impacted. Access to the open section of the lot will be from the north side (Old Taughannock Blvd) only.

Hudson Street Milling & Paving
Project Location: Hudson Street, full length
Project Description & Goal: Remove old asphalt and repave two courses of asphalt.
Project Start Date: Monday, August 2, 2021
Scheduled Completion Date: Monday, September 6, 2021
Local Impacts: Road closed to thru traffic and no on-street parking during working hours.
Detours Posted: Thru traffic will be routed to S. Aurora Street & Coddington Road

South Cayuga Street Bridge Project
PROJECT NAME: South Cayuga St Bridge Project
PROJECT START DATE: July 26, 2021
SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE: December 31, 2021
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND GOAL: This project is a bridge rehabilitation (Full Superstructure Replacement) project and includes complete removal of superstructure and replacement with multi-girder bridge with concrete deck also removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete on the abutments.
LOCAL IMPACTS: The Bridge will be fully closed during construction. All vehicular and pedestrian traffic will utilize a signed off-site detour.

GREEN STREET REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
City Hall Water Service Replacement
PROJECT NAME & LOCATION: City Hall Water Service, 100 Block of East Green Street
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & GOAL: Install a new water service & modernize City Hall water system
PROJECT START DATE & TIME: Wednesday July 14 @ 6:00pm
SCHEDULED PHASE COMPLETION DATES: Saturday, July 17, 2021 @ 6:00am
LOCAL IMPACTS: City Hall will be receiving a new water service in the 100 block of East Green Street during overnight hours throughout the duration of the job. From 6:00 pm through 6:00 am, each night beginning July 14 and ending July 17, the following detour and traffic pattern changes will be in effect:
- The 100 block of West Green Street and the 100 block of East Green Street will be reduced to one lane.
- The 200 block of S. Cayuga Street will be closed to thru traffic.
- Southbound traffic on S. Cayuga intending to head toward Clinton Street will be diverted west onto W. State Street to S. Geneva.
City Water & Sewer will work with Tompkins TCAT to temporarily move the bus terminal further east toward the Tompkins County Mental Health Building.
Water service impacts should be anticipated, particularly with 123 E. Green Street, but others may be encountered depending on the complexity of the installation.

Cornell Walk Repaving
THURSTON AVENUE CLOSURE AND DETOUR
PROJECT NAME & LOCATION: North Campus Transportation Improvements – Thurston Avenue
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & GOAL: Pedestrian and Traffic Improvements
PROJECT START DATE & TIME: Ongoing
SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE & TIME: 13 August 2021
LOCAL IMPACTS: Thurston Ave will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic, controlled by traffic signals. The intersections with Cradit Farm Road and Wait Avenue will be closed completely. Sidewalks on the north side of Cradit Farm Road and the west side of Thurston Ave will be closed for part of the project. Parking will be unavailable within the work zone.
DETOURS: Avoid the area if possible because delays are expected. Northbound and eastbound traffic will be directed from Thurston Avenue to Wait Avenue, to Triphammer Road to George Jessup Road to Pleasant Grove Road. Southbound and westbound traffic will be directed from Pleasant Grove Road to George Jessup Road to Triphammer Road to Wait Avenue to Thurston Avenue. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be routed around work areas and may experience delays.

The City of Ithaca intends to file an application to the NYS Office of General Services to take title to a small piece of land at the entrance to the Farmers Market on the north side of the railroad tracks. This parcel was once under water and thus belongs technically to New York State. The City intends to use the parcel as an extension of Third Street.

Project Location: 411 – 415 College Ave
Project Start Date: Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plan and Sidewalk Closures Setup - Tuesday May 19th, 2020
(Demolition Work Starts on Thursday, May 27, 2020)
Project Description and Goal: Cornell’s Student Agencies and Purcell Construction Corporation are scheduled to start demolition work on Collegetown Bagels building (block building on the corner of College Avenue). The proposed project consists of a six-story building with a lower retail floor space and student housing apartments. Demolition will begin May 27, 2020 with a reopening slated for August 2021.
Local Impacts: Beginning on May 19, the Contractor will mobilize and set up the work zone, traffic diversion plan and maintenance & protection plan to direct/prepare pedestrians and motorists for any commuting/diversion changes through College Ave and Oak Ave. A work zone will be set with 2 sidewalk closures along a portion of College Ave East side sidewalk and a portion of the southside Oak Avenue sidewalk. A one lane closure of the Eastbound lane on Oak Ave. will be set for vehicular through traffic headed Eastbound on Cornell Campus, while College Ave will maintain Two way lane traffic. Access will be maintained for businesses, however, on-street parking and loading zone areas will be limited at certain times on specific locations.
Recommended Detours: There will be no posted detours. Traffic will be maintained both ways through College Ave, while Oak Ave will maintain Westbound traffic through.
Scheduled Project Duration: 15 months
