1. How can I help make youth sports more enjoyable for everyone?

The Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS) sportsmanship clinic is now available to parents on line. This innovative web-based application takes approximately 30 minutes to complete at their website. Check it out!

2. What is the basic goal of our sports leagues?

Our recreational leagues emphasize personal enjoyment (fun) and skill building. Coaches and parents should emphasize sportsmanship, cooperation, and personal development in practice sessions and games.

3. Who coaches the teams?

All of our coaches are volunteers from our community - parents, college, and high school students, seniors, etc. Please consider volunteering to coach your child's team. No previous experience is required! We provide the training; you provide the leadership, fun, and patience! For more information, please contact us at 607-273-8364.

4. How are teams formed?

Baseball and soccer league coaches may (but are not required to) submit rosters up to 4 players; however, players listed on a roster must be registered by the sign-up deadline. We no longer accept team placement requests. Remaining spots are filled with registered players from the same or a neighboring school or area. Basketball, football, and lacrosse leagues form teams through a draft process to help create balanced teams.

5. What information should I make sure to receive from the coach?

• Any equipment needed for practices
• Any required safety equipment
• Coach's contact information (phone number / email)
• Coach's name (first and last)
• Coach's practice cancellation policy
• Cost of any additional items needed
• Game times and location
• Practice time and location (if applicable)

6. When should I expect to hear about my child's team placement?

In some leagues you will be notified prior to the start of the season and in others you will find out when you attend the first day of the program.

7. Is there a specific uniform my child must wear for games?

Most of our sport leagues have individual team or whole program sponsors; as part of our sponsorship agreement all participants must be registered and wear the appropriate program sponsor uniform.
