Duties and Services:
Code Inspectors are employees of the Building Department and provide required inspections for Building Permits, Housing Inspections, Exterior Property Maintenance, and Complaints.
The Electrical Inspector is located in the Building Department and is responsible for conducting electrical inspections and electrical surveys. Building Permit Applications for Electrical work can be obtained between 8:00-9:00 AM, Monday - Friday.

Exterior Property Maintenance:
The Building Department is charged with the routine inspection of properties within the City of Ithaca and enforcement as outlined in Section 178 of the Ithaca Code.

Building Permit hours are 8:00 - 10:00 AM, Monday - Friday
Electrical Permit hours are 8:00 - 9:00 AM, Monday - Friday
Search for a property by name or address and view the number of units, occupancy, zone district, and the Certificate of Compliance expiration date.
The Building Department is charged with the review and enforcement of the City of Ithaca Zoning Ordinance.
