The Water & Sewer Division provides potable water to the Ithaca community and collects, treats, and disposes of wastewater in a responsible manner. Water & Sewer Division staff members work in one or more of our three main facilities and perform the following functions:

Water Treatment and Distribution
The City of Ithaca Water Treatment Plant serves over 35,000 customers by treating 3.27 million gallons of water each day. 

Annual Drinking Water Quality Report
Each year, the City publishes a report summarizing water quality testing performed during the previous year.
 
Watershed Information
The source of the City's water is a reservoir on Six Mile Creek. The Six Mile Creek watershed has its headwaters in the Towns of Caroline and Dryden and consists of 46.5 square miles of mainly forested land. Find out more about the Six Mile Creek Watershed here. 
 
Stormwater Management
The City of Ithaca's MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) program is tasked with monitoring and controlling the quantity and quality of stormwater runoff throughout the city. Click here to locate forms, reports, policy and procedure, and general information.

Wastewater Treatment
The Ithaca Area Wastewater Treatment Facility treats wastewater from the City of Ithaca and the Towns of Ithaca and Dryden.  Find out more about the facility here.
