I am concerned about the police violence that occurred on the Commons on April 6. Two African American members of the community were the victims of an assault, and Ithaca police officers tackled, tased, and arrested them while leaving the white instigator alone.
This incident is structural racism in policing. I ask the city/county to advance the demands that Black Lives Matter Ithaca and the Multicultural Resource Center made in a statement:
Drop all charges associated with the incident and issue a public apology.
Cover all healthcare expenses and other damages of those arrested.
Launch a full investigation of the individual who instigated the altercation by forcibly touching a woman without consent.
Discipline the officers who used excessive force during the arrest and mishandled the removal of the taser probes.
Acknowledge the larger pattern of discrimination against people of color by the IPD.
Equip the Community Police Board with power to hold officers accountable.
Thank you.

I visited some family in Cortland, NY and went to Wickwire Pool, to my surprise it was FREE. Ithaca should have a Free Pool for kids and teens in our community.

Dear Mayor,
Please do not allow electric scooters in Ithaca. My husband and I were in Baltimore, which has them, and we saw several wipeouts of drivers, and were almost in a collision with several scooter drivers. I believe that scooters in Ithaca will be detrimental to the Ithaca environment. Helmets are not required, licenses are not required and training is not required. They are not safe for pedestrians or drivers .
As a senior citizen, I definitely do not want to confront scooters in Ithaca.

I want a live feed of the commons so that I can see how crowded it is during festivals.
