I am a resident living upstairs of a bar called Silky Jones in Downtown Commons. It keeps playing loud music at night these days. I think the noise level is unreasonable. Even it is a bar, it should not affect neighbourhood's life. What disturbed me is not only the high volume of the music but also the vibration the loud music creates. I don't really know where I can report this problem. That is why I wrote here. I hope relevant departments can help me solve this problem. Thank you!

Save the Old Train/Bus Station building! What a wonderful historic site!

I'm concerned about the parking downtown, specifically the commons/central downtown. I moved to Ithaca about 16 years ago and ever since moving here, there's been a problem with lack of parking spaces downtown. Now, with all the new apartments/hotels being built right around the commons with no infrastructure plan in place to support the additional traffic and cars the tenants will be bringing to the area. I rarely go to the Commons due to the difficulty in parking, but when I do go, I find the foot traffic extremely low, and I believe this is due to the lack of parking. I know of one store that will be moving from the commons in the near future due to the lack of people shopping the commons. I noticed that the new Green Street parking garage is being planned - and that's good, but, 1000 spaces of parking, with some that will be probably reserved for the attached office space, will not be enough. More parking needs to be available or downtown will be a nightmare to travel and park.

Add picnic tables and more benches & trash cans at Washington Park
This is such a large park, but is missing more places to sit. Also, a couple more trash cans would help.

I'm the president of the non-profit makerspace Ithaca Generator. This thought relates the the whole ecosystem however.
The mayor has acknowledged the maker movement in his public statements and signed the president's Mayor maker challenge.
Ithaca has a constellation of makerspaces to support different demographics - makerspaces in schools, makerspaces on Cornell campus, in the public library, and at the highly-focused REV.
I think Ithaca should have a well-equipped and well-staffed makerspace that is a real civic amenity to folks from all walks of life and educational backgrounds. IG is that to some extent, but we have a long way to go before we can really claim to be accessible to all, and offer educational programming.
Specifically, I would like to suppoort light manufacturing of local products by entrepreneurs and artisans who don't fit the REV model. Studios, social events, and manufacturing space for small to micro-enterprises could bridge the gap into manufacturing.

I am a resident at 120 Valentine Pl. My neighbor has been making shouting very loudly throughout the past half a year, and it gets even worse these days - he persistently made the noise from 3pm to 3am everyday. Another neighbor and I both find his noises really disruptive. We have written them many notes and even asked the landlord to send him an email about that, but he ignores that and is making even louder noise. I tried contact the police department but the officer told me it is out of its jurisdiction.
His carelessness is seriously affecting his neighbors, given in this period of time when all of us are doing social-distancing. His behavior is particularly irresponsible in this period as everyone needs to stay inside their room.
Can I know what else I can do to tackle this problem please?

I am concerned about the police violence that occurred on the Commons on April 6. Two African American members of the community were the victims of an assault, and Ithaca police officers tackled, tased, and arrested them while leaving the white instigator alone.
This incident is structural racism in policing. I ask the city/county to advance the demands that Black Lives Matter Ithaca and the Multicultural Resource Center made in a statement:
Drop all charges associated with the incident and issue a public apology.
Cover all healthcare expenses and other damages of those arrested.
Launch a full investigation of the individual who instigated the altercation by forcibly touching a woman without consent.
Discipline the officers who used excessive force during the arrest and mishandled the removal of the taser probes.
Acknowledge the larger pattern of discrimination against people of color by the IPD.
Equip the Community Police Board with power to hold officers accountable.
Thank you.

Please make sure easy and comfortable access to the Tompkins County Public Library is one of your top concerns. Currently the buses lining the street in front of the library is counter-productive to the idea of coming to TCPL. A good majority of our community happen to be senior citizens and we want easy access. Downtown Ithaca is currently a maze, what with detours and construction.......I will go elsewhere to spend my time and money if need be, and so will many others. Downtown Green Street is NOT the place for a bus garage. The Common Council needs to work very hard to treat TCPL and its patrons fairly. The situation right now is not fair.
Thank you.

Who are mycologists in your community that would be willing to help?

I h ave several graphic details that I can go into if any is interes. Yesterday was my fourth time of filing a complaint with the state. I have sent emails to the Mayor, senator, govener. No reply, which is not surprising. Ithaca has always been a very liberal town. I think some of the liberals should make a visit to a nursing home near you, maybe then, lifetime residents will get more respect, than pass through students.

I believe that scooters in Ithaca will be detrimental to the Ithaca environment. Helmets are not required, licenses are not required and training is not required. They are not safe for pedestrians or drivers .
As a senior citizen, I definitely do not want to confront scooters in Ithaca.

Are there any plans to bring a small supermarket onto the Commons?
With new apartments going up all around us, I see a need for a small or private market on the Commons. Is there any way to entice a small grocery store to expand onto the Commons proper? Doest Wegman's have an "Express" market? LOL When living on the Commons and using TCAT to commute to and from work, the only places to pick up something on the way home from work would be the Commons Market or Green Star. Both these stores are very limited in products.
Closest market to by a loaf of bread, eggs, a pound of ground beef and milk is Wegman's. This is troubling for those not wanting to deal with a trek to the supermarket.

This is a two-way stop at a three-way intersection, and people never understand that the third car (turning onto Stewart from Willard) doesn't have to stop. Either people slow down traffic by stopping where they don't need to in confusion, or people pull out from the other two points of the intersection without realizing that the cars from Willard don't stop, causing near-accidents. I live right by this intersection and there are constantly car horns going off because people can't figure this out- I feel like a real accident could happen here.
