Construction Update- East State Street Mill & Pave
PROJECT NAME & LOCATION: East State Street Mill & Pave, East State Street, from the Tuning Fork up to Mitchell Street
PROJECT START DATE: May 15, 2023
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project will rehabilitate the pavement condition, place new pavement markings, replace curbing, install some new drainage and repair some existing infrastructure, enhance the outbound bus stops, replace a retaining wall on the north side of the street, and make all sidewalks ADA compliant.
LOCAL IMPACTS:
On Monday, May 15th, the City’s contractor, Suit-Kote, will begin installing work zone traffic control materials to allow for work on the north side of the street. One lane will be maintained in each direction with lane shifts to the south side of the street. Though traffic will be maintained in both directions, motorists should expect delays in the area.
Additionally, the sidewalk on the north side of the street will be closed in the project limits. A pedestrian detour will be installed to direct people walking to the south side of the street.
Note: there are multiple work zone traffic control plans for the course of the project. This is the first one. We will provide updates as the scenarios change. This is very busy corridor; the city asks people to pay extra attention in the work zone and to consider alternate routes, if possible.
DETOURS IN PLACE:
The sidewalk on the north side will be detoured to the south side of the street.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS:
Approximately five parking spaces will be removed on the south side of the street approximately across from Schuyler Place (the first five or so parking spaces heading up the hill).
SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE: August 18, 2023
