Public meeting scheduled for Cayuga Waterfront Revitalization Project

Public meeting scheduled for Cayuga Waterfront Revitalization Project

The City of Ithaca Engineering Office and their consultants, Bergmann Associates, will be hosting a public meeting for the Cayuga Waterfront Revitalization Project on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at the Boynton Middle School, 1601 North Cayuga Street. City staff and consultants will be in attendance to present the project and the project goals. The desired outcome of the meeting is to get input from the public, which can be used to help determine the scope of the project and to inform preliminary design alternatives. The meeting is structured as an open house event and people can drop in at time during the three hour event.

The project is focused on three components: 1) transforming Route 13 into an urban boulevard, from approximately Cascadilla Street to the area near Fall Creek; 2) improving the crossings of Route 13 in the this area for people walking, biking or using other modes of non-motorized transportation, and 3) assessing and planning for other transportation improvements that would allow for a revitalized waterfront district in the area between Route 13 and Cayuga Lake and the Cayuga Inlet.

The open house meeting on January 18th is one of the first large public engagement opportunities; others will follow. A project website has been created at and written comments can be submitted through the website.
