City of Ithaca solicits public comment on a proposal to construct 300 Fall Creek Drive and 400 Oak Avenue Sidewalk Project
The City of Ithaca Engineering Office is soliciting public comment on a new sidewalk proposal along the blocks of 300 Fall Creek Drive and 400 Oak Avenue. The project memo and related documents are posted on the City’s website under "Current City Projects" here: https://www.cityofithaca.org/394/Current-City-Projects.
Written comments can be submitted to Johnathan Licitra at JLicitra@cityofithaca.org or mailed or hand delivered to the Engineering Office in City Hall, 108 East Green Street. Comments will be accepted until 16 April 2021. The Board of Public Works will host a Public Hearing for the projects on Tuesday, 20 April 2021 at 6pm during the normal Board of Public Works meeting.
In 2015 and 2018, BPW approved SID work plans to pay for construction design drawings and estimates for missing sidewalk sections along the blocks of 400 Oak Ave. and 300 Fall Creek Dr. Both locations have high rates of pedestrian traffic based upon their proximity to student populations. Constructing these infill sidewalk gaps coincides with the City’s goal of Vision Zero passed by Common Council in March 2019. The project proposes 830 linear feet of new sidewalk along 400 Oak Avenue. The project proposes 1,040 linear feet of new sidewalk along 300 Fall Creek Drive which includes a modification to vehicular traffic flow to one way east-bound from Highland Ave. to Thurston Ave.
