The Park Foundation awarded the City (on behalf of the City and Town of Ithaca) $62,850 to study and draft legislation to reduce GHG emissions in existing buildings. This is contingent funding which will be awarded only if match funding is awarded from the Partners for Places grant program. The City is also working to coordinate with a related project led by the Town of Bedford, NY to explore legal authority, financing structures, and examples of policies to reduce emissions in existing buildings. A group of students advised by Professor Al George at Cornell are halfway through a two-semester project that will provide initial research to support both of the projects described above.
